About Josh

After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, I pursued my Master’s in Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta, graduating in 2017. Through running a landscaping and building maintenance company to pay for school and playing competitive hockey growing up, I am very familiar with sports injuries and general aches and pains. I take pride in being able to help others through their injuries and get back to doing what they love to do!

Growing up as an avid golfer and hockey player, I suffered my fair share of injuries, helping me understand the need to get back to your sport. While I am still an avid golfer and recreational hockey player, I have taken up hiking, snowboarding, and running as other ways to enjoy life, along with burying myself with home renovation projects.

About Hayley

My journey began with the Bridge at our Sherwood Park location where I completed my student practical experience for my Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree. I went on to graduate from the University of Alberta in 2022. Post graduation, I transitioned over to our South Edmonton location where I had the opportunity to work with our exceptional front-end staff as a Patient Experience Representative and developed an even stronger understanding and admiration for The Bridge philosophy.

At the same time, I had the opportunity to train teams of elite youth athletes at the Edmonton Scottish Soccer Club both in season and off season. My love of sport and wellness developed into an appreciation for rehabilitation and all its intricacies after personally sustaining injuries while playing competitive soccer. That experience fueled my desire to pursue an education in Kinesiology with a Major in Sports Performance.

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach at The Bridge, I facilitate and encourage active participation and an exercise-based approach to rehabilitation to prevent injury and progress towards enhanced performance. Whether you are a student athlete or just trying to get back to doing what you love, my goal is to provide an environment for you to develop self efficacy throughout your rehabilitation and performance journey and for you to feel confident in achieving your goals.

If I’m not playing soccer or hanging out at the clinic, you can find me in the mountains camping, on the slopes, trying out new co-ed sports with friends, or exploring around the city with my golden retriever Angus.

About Leanne

My passion lies in helping others move through injury and optimize performance. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta and then moved to Australia to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy Studies from the University of Queensland. After finishing my Masters, I worked in Brisbane, Australia before returning home to practice in Edmonton. The Aussies are world leaders in physio, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. My work experience, both international and local, includes hospital and private clinical practice.

I am also a pelvic health physiotherapist. The pelvic floor has a huge impact on the quality of life. It is not talked about enough and can often be a missing link in lumbo-pelvic concerns. This area of practice has also highlighted the importance of taking a biopsychosocial approach to treatment.

In addition, I am also certified to teach Clinical Pilates and am one of the only physios in Edmonton with this training. I find that the principles of Pilates fit very well with physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Pilates is a great cross-training modality for athletes and anyone active. It offers numerous benefits of strengthening/lengthening through range, challenging core work, and developing a mind-body connection.

I believe patients need to actively engage in their recovery for success. The quality of your life is greatly affected by your ability to participate in and enjoy your favorite activities, so your treatment plan will be personalized towards the things that are important to you. I encourage my patients to learn to move their bodies well, both safely and efficiently. My treatment style is active, exercise, and evidence-based, with my own coating of compassion and optimism. Through 10 years of clinical experience, I have learned the importance of having a multifaceted approach to pain and rehab.

As a former competitive figure skater, I have learned to appreciate how important it is to take care of your body. I have a special interest in working with artistic athletes, especially dancers and figure skaters. I am also passionate about female athletes in general and the unique demands of this population.

In my spare time, I enjoy staying active with a variety of activities: gym, running, biking, hiking, Pilates, cross-country skiing, paddleboarding, and skating. Any time spent out at the lake or in the mountains doing these activities is even better!

About Brendan

As a competitive athlete who competed in volleyball, hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, badminton, track, and golf, I have encountered numerous injuries that have led me towards a career in injury prevention and rehabilitation. After high school, I earned my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at the University of Alberta Augustana Campus. During my university years, I played varsity volleyball before transitioning into a role on the coaching staff as the strength and conditioning coach for the Augustana Volleyball Program. Concurrently, I coached club volleyball and worked with Volleyball Alberta’s developmental programs.

Upon graduation, I embarked on a career as a kinesiologist in the rehab industry, treating a diverse range of patients through exercise-based interventions. Following this, I sought further education and completed my master’s degree in physical therapy (with distinction) at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. While studying there, I played both varsity basketball and competitive hockey for Edinburgh’s travelling squad.

Post-graduation, I accepted a role in a neurological rehabilitation ward, where I treated patients with traumatic brain injuries, cognitive impairments, strokes, and other neurological disorders. Upon returning to Edmonton, I decided to embrace my roots, treating both athletic and non-athletic populations with various musculoskeletal conditions.

With experience working and training in both Canada and the United Kingdom, I’ve developed a patient-focused treatment style that centers on individualized rehab goals. By utilizing a person-centered approach, you play an active role in your rehabilitation plan, which focuses on what is important to you. Whether your aim is to return to high-level sport, run your first 5km race, or garden without pain, I am here to guide you towards your goals. With a background in athletics and strength training, I believe in adopting an active approach, using exercise and movement based on evidence-based practices.

When I’m not cheering on the Oilers, you might find me hunting for cheap concert tickets, missing putts on the golf course, beating my brothers at tennis, attempting to avoid injury while snowboarding, or running in the river valley with my dog, Coco.
