I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a background in Human Ecology from the University of Alberta. I specialize in working with athletes, men’s mental health, return to sport after injury, and exploring how movement impacts our wellbeing.
It is impossible to separate the mind, body, and soul, so I use a very holistic approach when working with clients. Exploring attachment, emotional experiences, thoughts, beliefs, and our relationship to self and others, is key to finding true healing, and meaningful growth.
I was a mediocre soccer player in high school and quickly realized that what I really wanted to do, was run. I love to run ultramarathons in beautiful places. I am especially fascinated by the mental component of endurance sports, and how lessons learned in sport, translate perfectly into lessons learned in life.

About Kat
I was born and raised in Sherwood Park, AB where I grew up playing soccer competitively. During my time as a competitive soccer player, I went through 3 major knee injuries where the Bridge quickly became my second home. During all the hours spent at the clinic I realized I wanted to be a part of this community long-term and help individuals get back to what they love.
I quickly grew to appreciate and love the collaborative environment and community centred space at the clinic which ultimately helped shape my idea of what kind of practitioner I wanted to be.
Knowing this, I attended the University of Lethbridge for a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. While attending the UofL, I played on the Pronghorns soccer team for 3 years and then after retiring took on a coaching position for a year before returning home.
From patient to staff member, I worked at the Bridge for 4 years as both a physiotherapist aide and a receptionist. Now as a Strength & Conditioning Coach I am able to utilize my experience to help educate young athletes about injury prevention and demonstrate how using a proactive approach to our health creates long-term benefits.
My passion for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning, is clearly demonstrated while connecting with my clients regardless of their ages, abilities, or background in physical activity.
My philosophy of continuing education allows me to further my knowledge in order to provide the best care for my clients.
When I’m not in the clinic you can find me hiking, hitting up a new local business or brewing a fresh cup of coffee.

I graduated from the University of Alberta’s Physiotherapy program in 2001 after completing a Bachelor of Science degree. In addition to working for The Bridge, I have lived and worked for clinics in New York City and Toronto. I completed my Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2010.
In addition to working in the clinic, teaching manual therapy and exercise courses to other physiotherapists is a passion of mine. I am an instructor with the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Assocation, and with New York-based Hands On Seminars. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach therapists in Canada, the U.S, South Africa, Turkey and India.
For me the keys to successful injury and pain recovery are integrating the appropriate manual therapy techniques with appropriate strengthening, movement and education. Finding the movement or muscle imbalance issues are critical to achieving lasting pain free function.
During my non-work time I enjoy being with my young family, traveling and staying active with strength training, running, soccer and volleyball. I’m still holding on to the dream of another Oilers Stanley Cup Championship in my lifetime.

Born and raised in Sherwood Park, I was heavily involved in competitive soccer. Throughout my soccer career, I sustained several injuries which introduced me to the world of sport science and rehabilitation.
I graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree in 2016. After graduating I worked as a kinesiologist, learning from and working closely with chiropractors and it was through that mentorship that my passion for chiropractic began.
I attended the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon graduating summa cum laude in 2020 with both my Doctor of Chiropractic degree as well as a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology degree. During my time at UWS, I learned a variety of treatment technique including chiropractic manipulation/mobilization, soft tissue mobilization and exercise prescription.
Since graduating, I have expanded my knowledge and treatment techniques through continuing education courses such as Active Release Technique (ART), instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), cupping and various RockTape courses. I consider myself a life-long learner and am eager to advance and improve my knowledge and skills to maintain a practice that is patient centred and evidence based. About Nico
Hi I’m Nico! I believe physiotherapy is about reintroducing optimal movement in people’s lives. The many tools in my belt allow me to guide clients along their rehabilitation journey, working with them to manage pain and create a more resilient, adaptable body. Before obtaining my Master’s Degree in physiotherapy, I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta. During my time in the faculty of Kinesiology, I had the opportunity to work with Golden Bears Athletics, spending seasons managing injuries for the Golden Bears Volleyball and Hockey teams. I also have rehab experience with FC Edmonton and the Edmonton Stingers, giving me a wide understanding of sporting injuries.
But if you ask me, I don’t think you need to be an elite athlete to receive elite-level care. I’m looking to be there for anyone who feels they need it by taking my skills in biomechanics and adapting them to help people with the little things; walking your dog, reaching the top shelf, or sometimes just getting through your day. Let’s work together and create your comeback. I have a special interest in working with runners, golfers, volleyball players, and field athletes!

Pursuing a passion for all things sport and movement took me to the University of Alberta where I graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, majoring in Sports Performance. Throughout my degree, I took a keen interest in injury management and injury prevention, leading me to a career where I can help people recover from injuries and return to activities at the same or higher level than before.
I spent the last year of my degree working as the student kinesiologist with the University of Alberta Golden Bears hockey team, and I’ve been lucky to have coached a variety of different levels in hockey from youth up to junior levels.
Growing up, I played a variety of different sports. My athletics mainly focused on baseball and hockey since I was 5, but I took up football in high school and recently have been focusing on golf and my general fitness goals. My treatment style is informed from my own time as both a patient and athlete. I place a strong emphasis on education and self-autonomy paired with exercise and movement as I think it’s extremely important for you to understand how to manage your injuries or pain when you’re not in the clinic. This way, we can make a long-term impact on both your rehabilitation and future performance in whatever is meaningful to you, whether that’s competing in high level sport or just trying to get back to feeling and moving a bit better day-to-day. Up-to-date, evidence-based care is something I value highly with my patients and I enjoy collaborating with them to ensure they understand and participate in the treatment choices we make together.

I opened Sherwood Park Sports Physiotherapy in 1985 with a vision to have a multidisciplinary Sports Medicine Centre to treat athletic injuries in Sherwood Park. In 2000, the vision grew as the clinic moved to Millennium Place and expanded to include a full team of rehab and fitness specialists. In 2015, we took a further step by opening The Bridge, a centre that not only provides treatments but also full movement and return to sport training. In 2018, we were proud to add The Bridge South Edmonton in collaboration with Spark Sport Conditioning and in 2021, The Bridge Lethbridge brining the vision to Lethbridge and southern Alberta.
I believe our success has been rooted in our desire to think differently. To challenge the norm and always push to bring the best professionals and treatment methods to our clients.
We believe everyone deserves to live their best healthy lives and we do whatever is necessary to help people back to the sports and activities they love.
