Marcel Desmarais BKin., CSCS, RSCC
About Marcel
I am an NSCA Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I received my certifications following the completion of my undergraduate degree in 2015, specializing in kinesiology and sports performance. During my time at the University of Alberta, I had the privilege of working with the women’s hockey team as their student therapist. My involvement with sport at the university level helped me realize my passion for working with athletes.
Throughout my years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with athletes from over a dozen different sports, ranging from grassroots to professional levels. My training philosophy revolves around proper mobility and foundational movement patterns, no matter the level of sport or age of an athlete. In order to maximize performance effectively and efficiently, you can’t skip the basics. A strong foundation will not only facilitate injury prevention, but also provide the groundwork for building important bio motor abilities such as speed, power, strength, agility, and conditioning. Although I specialize in sport specific training, my time on the training floor is also spent coaching anyone looking to reach new fitness goals. Whether you’re an athlete or not, scientifically based programming can dramatically improve athletic performance and personal health.

About Hayley
My journey began with the Bridge at our Sherwood Park location where I completed my student practical experience for my Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree. I went on to graduate from the University of Alberta in 2022. Post graduation, I transitioned over to our South Edmonton location where I had the opportunity to work with our exceptional front-end staff as a Patient Experience Representative and developed an even stronger understanding and admiration for The Bridge philosophy.
At the same time, I had the opportunity to train teams of elite youth athletes at the Edmonton Scottish Soccer Club both in season and off season. My love of sport and wellness developed into an appreciation for rehabilitation and all its intricacies after personally sustaining injuries while playing competitive soccer. That experience fueled my desire to pursue an education in Kinesiology with a Major in Sports Performance.
As a Strength and Conditioning Coach at The Bridge, I facilitate and encourage active participation and an exercise-based approach to rehabilitation to prevent injury and progress towards enhanced performance. Whether you are a student athlete or just trying to get back to doing what you love, my goal is to provide an environment for you to develop self efficacy throughout your rehabilitation and performance journey and for you to feel confident in achieving your goals.
If I’m not playing soccer or hanging out at the clinic, you can find me in the mountains camping, on the slopes, trying out new co-ed sports with friends, or exploring around the city with my golden retriever Angus.

About Stefan
Soccer was my life growing up, but I tore my ACL for the first time when I was 14 years old. Two years later, I tore it again and ended up having three more surgeries by the time I was 20. This put a halt to my competitive sports career and it felt as though I would never return to the sports that I loved. Luckily, I found my passion for exercising during my rehabilitation and have lived in the gym ever since!
Since my first ACL tear-on, exercise has become one of the biggest factors in my life. It has pushed me to overcome many physical and mental hurdles, and so I decided to dedicate myself to this passion with the goal of helping others overcome their hurdles. In pursuit of being the best strength coach I can be, I graduated with distinction from the Kinesiology program at the University of Alberta in 2024 with a major in Physical Activity and Health.
I hope to give people the tools they need to allow exercise to change their lives, like it did mine. I know first-hand the barriers surrounding exercise, but whether it’s returning to performance, becoming a better athlete, or simply becoming physically and mentally healthier, we can work together to achieve your goals.
Outside the clinic, you can find me writing about mental health, skiing on a mountain or a lake, cheering on Bayern Munich or hanging out with my soul-dog, Mia.

I began competing in gymnastics before transitioning to figure skating, where I skated competitively for 10 years and competed at multiple national events. Today, I continue to share my love of the sport through coaching. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science, specializing in Dietetics. During my clinical training, I gained experience across a variety of practice areas, including acute care, pediatrics, and outpatient counselling.
